I am excited to announce the official launch of Gemma Antcliffe Counselling in Ripon.  Nestled in the tranquil, leafy area of Bishopton, my home-based practice provides a safe, private and comfortable space you can seek help and support.

My practice is here for adults living in and around the Ripon area, to increase their emotional wellbeing and ultimately improve their lives.

Upon getting set up people have asked me whether there is much of a call for counselling and my answer is a resounding YES!

The conversations around promoting good mental health are getting increasingly louder.  Campaigns such as “Time to Change” have made a real impact, helping people understand mental health problems are incredibly common, citing 1 in 4 people will experience poor mental health at some point in their lives.

Love them or hate them, the Royal family have done an amazing job in mental health awareness.  The “Heads Together” Campaign led by Prince Harry alongside the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall saw Prince Harry disclose how counselling had helped him deal with the issues surrounding the tragic loss of his Mother.

The work of these campaigns is helping to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health which in turn is giving people the confidence to speak out, reducing the shame around these issues.   People are increasingly starting to understand the importance of looking after their wellbeing, meaning counselling is no longer being seen as a luxury but instead as something which is very much needed.

So coming back to the question of whether there is much of a call for counselling, I think there has never been a better time to set up a private counselling practice.  More people than ever are open to the idea therapy can help, are looking to access counselling and openly talking about the benefits therapy has to offer.

If you are local to the Ripon area and are feeling as though you could benefit from having someone to talk to, please do not hesitate to contact me:
